"I am a member of a community group, and we have lots of ideas about things we could do to benefit the whole community... The only trouble is we don't have any money."
HPCP can help you with that. The Project Officer can help you to identify possible sources of funding from Trusts and funding bodies.
-
"We want to make an application to a Trust, but now we have seen the application form it looks impossible, what can we do?"
HPCP can help you with that too. Our Project Officer can give you guidance about filling in the form and how to write a stronger application.
-
"We would really like to build a new 'something' but we don't know if it is the kind of thing everyone would enjoy and use. How can we find out?"
You need to conduct some well-planned community consultation exercises. This will enable you to be sure that what you are proposing is worthwhile. It will also support strongly any funding applications you make in the future. The Project Officer can advise you how to conduct a consultation exercise.
-
"Our group has been meeting for a while now, and we feel that we ought to have a constitution. What should we do?"
Our Project Officer will either help your group to draw up a constitution, or she can direct you to someone who can.
-
"We live in (wherever) and we have noticed that there is nothing for the kids to do in the evenings. How can we find out what is available?"
Contact the Project Officer at HPCP. She will either tell you what is available in your area, or will be able to direct you to another advisor.
-
"Our village has been trying to put up sign posts for a long time, but no one can agree where to put them and no one wants to pay for them. We've reached a stale-mate and don't know what to do."
If your problem affects the whole community, the Project Officer would be happy to act as an intermediary so that you can find a swift and mutually agreeable answer to your problem.

"I am furious about the public toilets being closed all around Scotland. I'd like to join a lobbying group to convince the Scottish Executive that they have made the wrong decision, but don't know who I should contact."
The chances are that if you are upset about a council proposal, then so are meny other people. We can point you in the direction of sources of local support. e.g. local community councillors, steering groups or individuals. HPCP works as a lobbying body to ensure that the Scottish Executive is aware of the impact its decisions have at a local level. We have previously been involved in lobbying against all kinds of proposals such as planning regulations, transport, tourism and environmental issues.

"I am really interested in some of the projects that HPCP supports and would love to work as a volunteer in the Highland Perthshire area. How can I get started?"
The Project Officer can discuss your plans for volunteering with you, and help you decide how much time you are prepared to offer, and help you clarify your expectations. HPCP has strong links with the Perth and Kinross Voluntary Services, and can help you enrol as a registered volunteer.
